The Kano State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Dije Aboki as the substantive Chief Judge of the state making her first-ever female Chief Judge to occupy the position.
The confirmation of the first female Chief Judge followed the consideration of a letter forwarded to the assembly by Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf and read by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore, during Thursday’s plenary.
Former Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje had, in March 2023, sworn in Justice Aboki as acting Chief Judge of the state.
Justice Aboki was called to the bar in 1984. She is a 1983 graduate of Law from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Aboki began her career as state counsel in 1985 under the state Ministry of Justice. A year later, she was appointed a Magistrate and rose to become a High Court judge in 2006.
Aboki is a member of various professional bodies and holds numerous positions.
