Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Mo Abudu are the only two Nigerians on Forbes’ 2023 Most Powerful Women in the World list.
Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, and Mo Abudu, CEO of Ebonylife Media, have been ranked on Forbes’ “100 Most Power Women” list for 2023, making them the only two Nigerians on this list.
Recall that Okonjo Iweala also made the list in 2022.
The foremost business magazine released its 20th annual list of the most powerful women in the world on Tuesday.
The list comprised 100 women excelling in various fields, including politics, business, technology, media, and entertainment, amongst others.
Okonjo Iweala holds the 87th position on the list as the most powerful woman in Africa, while Mpumi Madisa, a South African businesswoman, closely follows at the 88th position.
Tanzanian President Samia Hassan makes her debut at the 93rd spot, while Nigerian media mogul and philanthropist Mo Abudu is at the 98th.
Reacting to the news, she wrote:
Feel truly honored to be named one more time as one of the @Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women in the World. This will be the 7th time, starting in 2011. Congratulations to all the women on this list who are working hard to make a difference and to others who are working hard to change the world, even if they are not on the list. Special congratulations to my younger sister, @MoAbudu, great to have two Nigerian women on this list.
