‘Rice Water’ is basically rice cooked in water into a mushy porridge texture and it’s a popular breakfast choice in Ghana.

Here is a detailed recipe on how to make Ghanaian rice water.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of rice
- 5 cups of water
- Salt to taste
- Sugar or sweetener
- Pinch of nutmeg (optional)
- Evaporated Milk
Preparation

Wash rice till it is clear and pour in a pot of water.

Cook on medium heat for about 20 minutes or until it is soft (Use more water, if necessary)

Add a pinch of salt.

Using the flat side of a wooden spoon, crush the rice to achieve a pudding-like consistency

Add the nutmeg and let it simmer for about five minutes.

Serve with milk and sweetener of your choice
